Did You Get One of These?

I empty my mailbox once a week whether I need to or not. And what should I find in my mailbox this past week but an 8.5 x 11 inch envelope with an admonition to the postal carrier that he or she shall not handle it with an uncaring mind.

What should lie within the confines of this envelope? None other than my once-in-a-lifetime invitation to the glorious Inauguration of Barack H. Obama and Joseph R. Biden as President and Vice-President of the United States, respectively. (Click to enlarge) Alas, but I will not be able to attend, but it’s nice to be invited.

Instead I will be attending a far more local and less pricey (at $35) Inaugural Ball in the backyard of Tom DeLayville: the Sugar Creek Country Club.

A million of us, donors to the campaign of Barack Obama, received this invitation. But that’s really the best part of this story.

As reported here, Precise Continental, a printing firm in Brooklyn, New York was about to effect a 4-day work week for its 65 employees. Said shop owner Jim Donnelly:
“I was cautioning them about January that business didn't look good.”

In the meantime, the Obama campaign was looking for a strong union shop that used recycled paper for its feedstock. It settled on Precise Continental for those reasons. And the fact is, it turned a dismal holiday season into a boom.

“’The average employee went home last Wednesday with two-and-a-half-weeks check because of all the overtime they put in,’ Donnelly said. ‘You can buy a lot of Christmas presents with that.’”

So really, it’s more than just to be a one-in-a-million recipient of this union-produced memento of an historic event. It’s the story behind it.

A story that gives me hope for the future of our country.

I guess they really wanted you and Susan to both attend since they waited until every hotel within 150 miles of DC was booked before they sent you your invitation.

Now Anon, you know that's not true. There are still hotel rooms available.

In nearby Pennsylvania.

Keep your site called half empty, because you have to have half a brain to blindly believe in Obama this much.

You truly put him on the same shelf as a savior or god. In the words of Will Ferrel, "I feel like im taking crazy pills!!".

One day the media will finally crack and criticize Obama, and then what?!!

What will he be then? When will you wake up from this blind denial you have that the country elected a guy who A) they don't know, B) they don't know his citizenship is legit, C) Anything he has ever done, D) his religion, E) his character, F) ect. ect. ect.

The Democrats literally, and I mean literally put on the biggest magic show the world has ever seen. Im sure every one of the framers were spinning in their graves on November 4th.

Man are you in for a big surprise, Anon. Sure Obama is going to have his share of criticism, and I look to the day that I am one of his critics. But here's the thing, Anon. We have had a president for the past 8 years who truly has a problem formulating a clear thought.

What you are going to be seeing is how a country is going to be run by a guy, and a team, that has the ability to think their way through the process, and at the same time, clearly explain what's going on.

"Ect. ect. ect."

Hal,

I hope you're right about BO.

I just wish I was aware of a single piece of legislation he had introduced that while the Dems were in control of the Senate that made me comfortable he was so bright.

Is he ignorant or a petty thief?

"Mr. Geithner "filled out, signed and submitted an annual tax allowance request worksheet with the IMF that states, 'I wish to apply for tax allowance of U.S. federal and state income taxes and the difference between the "self-employed" and "employed" obligation of the U.S. Social Security tax which I will pay on my Fund income,'" the Finance Committee reported."
