It’s Friday

I commented on the effect of Jackie Evancho on opera late last year. An amazing performance by a surprisingly young person.

Now we have an amazing YouTube video by yet another young person that I need to mention. Mention at least.

Young Rebecca Black has burst upon the media scene with her amazingly disconnected and verbose narrative about the fact that it has happened to be Friday. I have polled my classes and the vote is that kids either love it, hate it, or laugh at it out loud.

(LOL)

I don’t know. It just makes me smile. The disconnect. How a young girl relates to a really much older guy driving around in his car rapping. The kids think it is funny, too. So, anyway, enjoy the trip. Fifty million views on YouTube at this posting.

Since February.

3 million just since late this afternoon.

America’s New Image Abroad as Revealed By Robin Williams’ British Audience

Watch this You Tube video that someone showed me today. It’s Robin Williams at his usual best, but watch the audience reaction.

It’s a British audience.

They like his jokes, too. American humor, it seems, isn’t unfathomable as British humor is sometimes.

But watch the audience reactions to Williams’ remarks on the impending Obama presidency, and the end to, as he puts it, Bush’s “Reign of Error.”

Don’t underestimate how America is now viewed in the world now that we have undone the horrible thing we did when we foisted George W. Bush on the world.

The Road To Victory Texas

Now who the person is who made this YouTube video, I haven’t the faintest idea. But it looks like, along with the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, she smells a story brewing here in Texas. She flew out from DC to find out about Rick Noriega and his campaign to bring down Dubya’s head cheerleader and rubber stamp, Senator John Cornyn.

It looks like this is going to be at least a two-parter. Part One is all about the fact that no one knows who John Cornyn is. That is not such a reach considering the fact that the man has been in Washington for 6 years now and hasn’t done a single blasted thing for Texans so that the mere mention of his name could jar someone’s memory.

Victory is within our grasp. We need the same kind of turnout in November that we had in the primaries across the nation – a turnout brought about by a universal desire for change in our government.

We can do this. Check it out at Rick Noriega For Texas.

And DSCC, this is a good beginning. It looks like you are starting to get serious about our candidate. Who knows, maybe your calls to me asking for funding, and my refusals to that, based on my desire that anything I contribute to the Senate campaign be spent in Texas, are finally getting some legs.

On that last, though, I am characteristically pessimistic.

John Edwards and Hillary Clinton at Yearly Kos Democratic Presidential Debate

The clip embedded below is from John Edwards’ campaign, uploaded on YouTube. It shows Edwards issuing a challenge to fellow presidential office seekers to refuse to take money from Washington DC lobbyists.

Since he allows that Senator Barack Obama has vowed not to take campaign contributions from Washington lobbyists, this is an out in the open shot across the bow at Hillary Clinton.

She responded to his challenge by saying, first, that in her 35 years of public life she has not been influenced by financial contributions. Here is where she got booed by her lefty audience. I found a CNN clip of just that on YouTube but I swear it has been pulled. That’s OK though, I’m glad I didn’t embed that one if it’s going to be pulled so quickly. If you want to watch the whole exchange on an 8 minute clip go here.

But then she recovered from the boos and came back with a point that I mentioned yesterday, that not all lobbyists are evildoers like Big PHARMA.

She didn’t get a huge ovation but she seemed to have earned their respect on that point.

And on a related, but then again, unrelated matter, here is Keith Olberman’s Worst Person in the World countdown (Dubya only made 1st runner up this time).

Granny 1, Jerk in Mercedes 0

My friend Ann sent me a hilarious movie clip the other day. She says the woman in the video is her new heroine. I thought I would upload it to YouTube to share it with you, only to find out that several versions are already there.

This is the one without the advertisement.

Coulter Smear Attack on John Edwards: Let the Games Begin

According to Ann Coulter, who is a complete hypocrite by the way, if you are a Democrat running for president, then you are a "faggot". Caught in the act of being a gay-bashing bigot, at the 34th Annual Conservative Political Action Conference, Coulter suggested that John Edwards was gay by way of saying that she couldn't mention the word "faggot" in public or she would have to enter rehab. It's on You Tube.

UPI explains that the rehab remark "may have been a reference to Grey's Anatomy star Isaiah Washington's decision to go into rehab during a public relations firestorm after he called one of his co-stars a 'faggot.' "

Democrats who run for president are either "faggots" or "total fags". However congressmen who are outted for their unusual interest in teenage congressional pages are . . . what? . . . gay?

David Bonior, the Edwards campaign manager asks how do they respond to this slime attack?
"Do we sit back, or do we fight back?"
"I say we fight. Help us raise $100,000 in "Coulter Cash" this week to show every would-be Republican mouthpiece that their bigoted attacks will not intimidate this campaign. I just threw in 100 bucks. Will you join me? Just click here."
Well, I clicked there and they now have fifty more bucks to go to "Coulter Cash".

Let the games begin. Expect more of the same. Republicans are going to learn that when they misbehave, Democrats have a payday.

Cheer Up Susan

Oh well, my plan didn't work.

I figured that if even a quarter of Susan Bankston's (formerly known as Juanita Jean Herownself) faithful readers clicked on the link to my blog in hers, read my blog, and then go vote for her on Capitol Annex, it would put her over the top. But like Democratic voters in HD 29, Susan's readers stayed home.

That's OK, the blogs that won are good blogs and I read them daily, too, except I usually click back when I see Kuffner blogging about baseball. Given a choice between watching a baseball game and watching my lawn grow, I'll take the lawn every time.

Anyway to cheer up Susan, and to give anyone else a laugh, I thought I would put up this new You Tube video by standup comedian Rob Paravonian. It is a delightfully constructed rant on Pachelbel's Canon in D.

A rant on Pachelbel's Canon in D? Click on it to understand.
