Rush Limbaugh: Guns, God and Gays?
Both notions absolutely floor me.
That notwithstanding the fact that Sir Elton got a cool million dollars for his one night performance.
But I haven’t paid much attention so I don’t know how Sir Elton is fixed financially. Maybe like his fellow semi-famous compatriot, Fergie, who solicits cash to arrange a sit down with her ex, he’s got a few too many bills to pay.
Or it could be that since he has announced to the world last February in Parade magazine that Jesus Christ was a “super-intelligent gay man” there has been some backlash. For example because of that statement Elton John’s previously scheduled performance in Egypt – a country with wall-to-wall homophobes in it – was cancelled.
So maybe he has to entertain the notion of not being too picky about who wants to hire him to perform. But then what about Rush Limbaugh? Isn’t he also offended at having his Savior being labeled gay?
Or any of the other guests at the reception? Karl Rove? Clarence Thomas? Sean Hannity? Rudy Giuliani?
Well, OK, on that last one, granted Rudy Giuliani is famously known for his cross-dressing so who knows what he thinks about gays.
Or maybe, just maybe, the whole neoconservative thing is just a clever way for Rush Limbaugh to make lots and lots of money because God knows there is no money in being a principled opponent of the right wing.
I can personally attest to that.

Rush Limbaugh is a Big, Fat Racist Bigot
He must be. They must be. How else can you explain the conversation that he had with a listener the other day over the listener’s claim (a false one) that embattled Governor David Paterson will get to pick someone to replace discredited former Congressman Eric Massa. Here is the exchange that is found here at Media Matters:
CALLER: Yeah. Hey, listen. Interesting sidebar to that Eric Massa mess for Democrats. You know, our besieged governor, David Paterson, will be charged with naming a replacement for Massa. And I'm wondering if there's any chance -- do you think that Paterson –
RUSH LIMBAUGH: Wait a minute.
CALLER: -- will exact some revenge on Obama, Emanuel, Cuomo, the whole Democratic gulag, by appointing a Republican or, at the very least, a DINO -- a Democrat in name only?
LIMBAUGH: Are you sure that Paterson appoints or is there a special election?
CALLER: I am reasonably sure that Paterson will be appointing the replacement, assuming that he, you know, doesn't resign in the next 60 or 90 days.
LIMBAUGH: Let's assume you're right. So, David Paterson will become the massa –
CALLER: Yes.
LIMBAUGH: -- who gets to appoint whoever gets to take Massa's place. So, for the first time in his life, Paterson's gonna be a massa. Interesting, interesting.
Did you hear that? Did you hear how he tries to imitate the accent of a black slave when he intoned the word “massa?” And I think MediaMatters was being too kind in their transcription. I didn’t hear any “na” sound when he said the word, as they transcribed it, “gonna.” I heard the word “gohn.”
You know, for decades we had white people playing the roles of black people in radio and early motion pictures, shucking and jiving, making African-Americans look like fools when they weren’t making them out to be dishonest. Those are bygone days, now, and you don’t see that stuff around anymore, right?
Well I guess, now that we have a black President it’s OK to bring all of that dirty laundry of the past out of the closet and put it right back out there on the clothesline for everyone to see. America’s youth, who fortunately have probably never seen this spectacle will be amazed. These days when a white girl emulates an African-American singer it’s because she wants to look cool.
Here’s the crap that I was raised on.
And, apparently, it’s back.

Rush Limbaugh and Godwin’s Law
Now anyone who has been on the internets for any period of time knows what happens next.
Rush Limbaugh automatically loses the argument.
This is a result of Godwin’s Law. Proposed by Mike Godwin in 1990, it was initially a discussion on threaded conversations on a Usenet, that as the length of the thread gets longer, the probability of someone being compared to Hitler approaches 1.
Corollaries have been offered, and the law itself has evolved to its present incarnation:
The first person who brings up Hitler or the Nazi Party in a debate automatically loses the argument.
Now Limbaugh might argue that Nancy Pelosi actually used the N-word first, and in that he would be completely wrong – as usual. Pelosi was making the observation that a few of the teabaggers who were invading recent town halls conducted by congressmen were carrying signs bearing swastikas. She wasn’t calling them Nazis, she was indicating that these people are from the radical fringe.
Here’s the discussion of Limbaush’s Nazi-Calling on today’s Hardball on MSNBC.
I like Shrum’s comment about being back on oxycodone and hydrocodone.

I’ll Say It: Rush Limbaugh for President
Sarah Palin? Give me a break. Besides being a woman, and no self-respecting white-haired puffy Republican man would ever want a woman for anything other than a cabinet post (keeping in mind that every Cabinet title starts with “Secretary of”), Sarah Palin brings no constituency with her, other than the 900,000 who prefer to live in darkness and twilight most of the year.
Other than Palin, all we have are a bunch of 1990’s retreads.
And Joe the Plumber.
OK, so let’s jump to the next generation. Eric Cantor, Republican congressman from
Eric Cantor.
Wait. Isn’t he Jewish?
Yep. Not only is he Jewish, but he is the only son of Abraham currently serving in Congress.
So, no. They will have to take a pass on Cantor. No Christ Killers in the Oval Office yet, at least not ones sent there by the Republican Christian Evangelical base. That would be too much for them to take.
And Bobby Jindal, the GOP’s own paean to ethnic diversity is a non-starter. Not after fumbling the ball in his near on air head-to-head joust with Barack Obama the evening of Obama’s address to the joint House and Senate last week.
Who does that leave? Who could possibly raise the Grand Obstructionist Party’s standard against “the Democrat menace?” Well, isn’t it already obvious? All you have to do is watch the news . . . and read the political cartoons. There is only one person capable of leading the Party of No to victory in 2012.
And that person, friends and neighbors, is Rush Limbaugh.
He is the perfect fit. And I’m not just talking about his 4XL shirt size. I’m talking about how he so neatly fits in with the Republican notion of truth. Of how careful Republicans are these days in forming opinions before checking their facts.
Take for example the case of Congresswoman Mary Bono Mack R-Palm Springs, former wife of Sonny Bono, who knew she had Barack Obama dead to rights when, in her attempt to oppose his stimulus package, decided to pounce on the president’s "pet project", the “Mag-Lev train from Disneyland to Las Vegas”, ordering her aide to “get him the bill, it's right there, show him.” Only to have her aide have to return to her and report “it’s not in the bill.”
Now that is what I call making sure of your facts before checking on them. Something that Rush Limbaugh has demonstrated time and time again. As a matter
of fact, the facts that are most often repeated by the GOP office holders these days are the facts that they get from Rush Limbaugh or from Fox News. Limbaugh and Fox, the daring duo of truth in the right-thinking media. And who is Rush Limbaugh’s equal in Fox News? Why none other than Sean Hannity. That icon of the low hairline. He of the dragging knuckles.
So why not?
Why not propose the Republican Dream Ticket for 2012. Rush Limbaugh/Sean Hannity.
A ticket for the ages.
A one-way ticket to political oblivion.
