Woodstock is Forty Years Old Today

No, not the little bird that used to appear on Charles Schulz's Snoopy comic strip from time to time.

The Woodstock Festival & Art Fair, that was billed as 3 Days of Peace and Music was held 40 years ago today.

No, I didn’t go but I knew people who did.

And I don’t care what anybody says, Jimi Hendrix rendition of The Star Spangled Banner was the singular event of the festival. It was immediately denounced by The Establishment as subversive (nowadays they would just say “terroristic”).

Amazing how things have changed so much in 40 years, isn’t it.

Equally amazing is how some things haven’t changed at all.
