Rick Perry’s Pants Are on Fire

Texas’ soon-to-be ex-governor should look down and check out his pants, because the whopper he told to a San Antonio reporter the other day may just have set them afire. It was just an offhand comment in a 15 minute long interview, a comment that took all of 16 seconds to contrive, but anyone with half a brain could see that Rick Perry is desperate to keep his job. So desperate that he has now reduced himself to become a compulsive speaker of things that are not factually accurate.

Here is the video clip:

So what we are hearing from a governor who is currently at the helm of a state that is projected to have something between $11 and $18 billion dollar budget deficit is that the City of Houston, with Bill White as its most recent mayor, is on the brink of bankruptcy.

What an outrageous lie.

Where Texas is on the brink of not being able to pay its bills, Houston enjoys a $170 million fund balance at the end of five straight years of tax decreases.

Where Texas attempts to put its disheveled house in order by looking at 10% across the board cuts, cuts that will inevitably lead to job losses, Houston, in 2009, pro-actively reduced costs in anticipation of decreased revenue by not filling job vacancies once they occurred – reducing city jobs by attrition.

The only thing Rick Perry is right about in the clip is that there is a candidate running for governor in Texas who is a fiscal incompetent.

And it isn’t Bill White.

Brutal stuff. Rick Perry needs to stop his diarrhea of the mouth and just quit. Shameless.
